A COLERAINE weightlifter who only took up the sport three years ago has been speaking of her pride at being named on the NI team for this year's Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Rebekah Thompson and team-mate Emma McQuaid are the first women from the province to compete in the Olympic Weightlifting category at the Games.
They fly out to the Gold Coast at the end of March and are due to compete on April 8.
“I'm really proud, it's such an achievement," admitted the 37-year-old.
“Something like this was never in my sights when I started Crossfit five years ago, or when I began Olympic weightlifting three years ago.
