COLERAINE First XI were made to battle all the way before securing a hard-earned 2-0 win at home over visitors Hollywood at the weekend.
The previous meeting of the teams resulted in a 2-1 win for the Bannsiders earlier in the campaign and this re-match was every bit as hard-fought.
The fixture represented Coleraine's first post Christmas outing and with only seven league games remaining they knew a positive result was required if they wanted to maintain hopes of glory.
Coleraine began with determination and provided plenty of attacking play but were continually denied by a mean Hollywood defence.
At the other end, the visitors' attack were proving lively, forcing good work from the home defence and a number of fine saves from keeper Rebecca Crowe.
Towards the end of the first half Coleraine began to push forward with some impressive movement between Sue Nutt, Zoe Purdy and Kelly Watt creating chances for forwards Niamh Tweedie and Grace Bradley.
