ROBERTA Gaile created her own little piece of history earlier this month when she became the first female from her club and county to win an Ulster Senior boxing title - at her first attempt.
The 38-year-old Churchland Golden Gloves boxer defeated Ballyshannon's Danika Doherty in the 64 kilos category in a pulsating final at the Dockers Club in Belfast to write her name into the record books.
And, now that's she's won, she's promptly hanging up the gloves to concentrate on coaching the younger members within the Coleraine club. "You're not allowed to compete after the age of 40 so it was something I wanted to do," admitted Roberta.
“I'm happy enough to have done it and to have won so now I can go back to concentrating on coaching."
