EOGHAN Rua's minor footballers won through to the final of the Derry U18 B1 Championship with a narrow 3-8 to 3-7 victory over Drumsurn in Magilligan last Sunday afternoon.
This was a reall nip and tuck affair the whole way through with the lead changing hands on several occasions, the Coleraine side holding off a late Drumsurn charge to win.
Eoghan Rua started well but early wides from Aidan McGonigle, Devlin Donnelly and Lorcan McMullen didn't help to settle them.
A great solo run from Lorcan McMullen past three Drumsurn defenders resulted in a good save by the Drumsurn goalkeeper.
This was followed by what looked to be a great point from Aidan McGonigle from the right wing but was bizarrely signalled wide.
There was fully 14 minutes on the clock before Eoin Canning opened the scoring with a well taken point for Eoghan Rua.
Drumsurn replied with two points, the second from a free brought forward following back chat to the referee.
Eoghan Rua replied with two quick points before an equalising score brought the game to 0-3 apiece after 22 minutes.
