McGoldrick ready for Championship challenge thumbnail

EOGHAN Rua will have little time to savour sealing the Derry Division One title for the first time as all eyes now turn to the opening round of Senior Football Championship games this weekend.
Sean McGoldrick's players kept their end of the bargain by comfortably defeating Dungiven 1-18 to 1-6 at home to finish top of the league with just a point in hand over favourites Slaughtneil.
McGoldrick is hoping the euphoria that has gripped the Coleraine club in recent days following the historic result will give his side the edge when they take on Magherafelt this Sunday evening.
“It will give the players encouragement and belief. It will help lift them mentally as well," McGoldrick, who could be without the influential Declan Mullan because of injury, told Chronicle Sport.
“This season was the first time since 2010 where we have had all the county players available for all of the big games. When you have county players available they help to set the standard.
