Busy week for Springwell runners thumbnail

THE second annual 'Remembering Dermott' 5 and 10k races in memory of Dermott McCloskey took place on Sunday past, with Springwell having three representatives in the 10k event.
Martin Smith put in an excellent run to record a Personal Best time of 43.58 for second place. Timothy Bacon was fourth with 45.07 while Noel Harkin finished in a time of 54.56.
Kells and Connor Half Marathon and 5 Mile Road Race
The Kells and Connor Charity Half Marathon and 5-mile Road Race took place on Saturday from the Kells and Connor Community Centre in Kells.
In the Half Marathon David Rainey (Ballymena Runners) had an excellent race to win in a time of 1.17.47. Matthew Hewitt (East Coast AC) was second in 1.25.08 and Tom Mills (unattached) third with a time of 1.32.
In the ladies' race Sara Johnston (Seapark AC) finished first and third overall, stopping the clocks at 1.29.08. Natasha Henderson (County Antrim Harriers) was second in 1.34.58, with Jana Ross (unattached) third in 1.40.31.
