Minors face Sligo for place in semis thumbnailDerry's Odhran McKeever tries to escape the attentions of Down's Brooke Byers during last week’s Ulster U21 Huring Championship Final at Corrigan Park

DERRY Minors will start as favourites as they look to book their place in the semi-finals of the Electric Ireland All Ireland Minor Football Championship this weekend.
The young Oak Leafs, who clinched the Ulster title with victory over Cavan, face Sligo for a place in the last four at Ballybofey this Saturday having already beaten the Connacht side this season.
Backboned by the formidable pairing of Padraig McGrogan and Oisin McWilliams at midfield, Damian McErlean's side are strongly fancied to reach the last four.
Meanwhile, Derry's Under-21 hurlers are preparing for an All Ireland semi-final against Leinster champions Kilkenny on August 19 following their success in the Ulster final.
Collie McGurk's side defeated Down 3-17 to 1-09 to win their first title at the grade since 2008 and their sixth in total.
