G-Mac misses Open for first time since 2004 thumbnail

PORTRUSH golfer Graeme McDowell will miss this week's Open Championship - his first in 13 years - after failing to finish in the top ten at the Scottish Open.
The former US Open champion was well positioned in eigth place going into Sunday's final round at the Dundonald links but a level par 72 wasn't enough to see him secure a coveted place at Royal Birkdale.
It completes a miserable fortnight for the Rathmore clubman who failed to make the cut at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Portstewart the previous week.
