FRESH from wrapping up the Lightning Rods World title in England, rising oval race star Aaron Stewart now has the European crown firmly in his sights.
In front of a sell-out crowd at Foxhall Heath Stadium in Ipswich earlier this month, Stewart finally realised his dream by becoming world champion.
The Aghadowey driver steered clear of danger in the final to deny pre-race favourites Ben Murray and defending European champion, Roger Dormer.
It wasn't entirely incident free, however, with stewards confirming Stewart the winner after Murray barged his way to the front over the closing laps.
Stewart, who works as a welder and fabricator at the Terex Group's Ballymoney site - says he intends to use the result as a springboard heading into the European Championships at Aghadowey Oval on July 22.
“Now that I know what it takes to win I stand a good chance when I'm out next," he said.
