Promotion would cap ‘memorable season’ thumbnail

PORTSTEWART manager Gary Taylor is confident his players can finish a memorable season on a high this weekend by winning promotion back to the Irish League at the first time of asking.
The Seahawks suffered the disappointment of relegation from Championship Two 12 months ago but are just 90 minutes away from an immediate return to the second tier of Irish League football. They host Dollingstown in the second leg of a promotion play-off at 2pm this Saturday with the tie delicately poised at 1-1 after the first leg.
Ryan Doherty was the hero for the visitors with a second half equaliser - away goals counting double in the event of a draw after two legs - but the wily Taylor is not planning on playing for a draw.
“They're a very good team going forward so I think we'll have to beat them if we want to go through," he admitted.
