OGHAN Rua got back to winning ways with a narrow two point win, 2-10 to 1-11, over Lavey at Pairc Eoghain Rua last Sunday afternoon.
The sides were level on five occasions throughout a very evenly contested game, indeed they were still all square 2-8 to 1-11 with three minutes on the clock but the home side claimed victory with two late points.
Lavey were dealt an early blow when midfielder Kevin O'Neill limped off injured after just two minutes although substitute Thomas Donnelly did well coming in.
Moments after O'Neill left the field Eoghan Rua opened the scoring with a well worked goal, Sean Leo McGoldrick squaring the ball close in for Ruari Mooney to palm to an empty net.
The south Derry side gradually worked their way into the game and in a two minute spell from the eighteenth minute fired over three points to take the lead for the first time at 0-5 to 1-1.
Cailean O'Boyle was influential over that period for Lavey, scoring two frees and setting up points for Dermot O'Neill and the lead score from Thomas Donnelly.
Eoghan Rua hit back though to retake the lead. Liam McGoldrick got forward to level before a strong run down the right from Colm McGoldrick provided the platform for Sean Leo McGoldrick to provide the assist for Richard Carey to palm to the net at the far post.
