Mulholland happy with early gravel performances thumbnail

SHORT circuit racer turned rally car driver Johnnie Mulholland plans to adopt a measured approach during his first full season in the Irish Forest Rally Championship.
Mulholland made the switch in codes last year and has enjoyed some strong results at the wheel of his special build Hyundai i20, particularly on forest competitions.
In his effort to learn more about the car, and driving on the loose, he headed to the Grizedale Stages at the end of November and admitted it was a useful exercise.
“To be honest it was a relatively straightforward decision, settling on the Irish Forest Championship," he explained to Chronicle Sport. "Because we've limited gravel experience we thought it best to try and learn as much as we can as close to home as possible. That way it saves us having to go back and forth to the UK mainland.
