New launch venue proves a winner thumbnail

HOSTING the 2017 North West 200 launch in Coleraine has received a resounding thumbs up from many of the sport's biggest stars - including the most decorated rider in the competition's history.
Event Director, Mervyn Whyte, has faced growing calls to find a venue closer to home to mark the official countdown to May's event, with Alastair Seeley saying his efforts are to be congratulated.
As exclusively revealed by Chronicle Sport in February, race organisers successfully engineered a move away from Titanic Belfast to the Causeway Coast Vineyard outside Coleraine town centre.
Hundreds of fans attended the ticket-only show last Wednesday to hear the thoughts of Michael Rutter, John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson ahead of this year's first international race meeting.
Seeley - who added win number sixteen and seventeen to his haul last season to move ahead of the late, great Robert Dunlop - said the complex on Hillman's Way and its facilities were 'first-class'.
