COLERAINE First XI narrowly missed out on a semi-final place despite a valiant team effort and a stand out performance from Becky Lockhart on Saturday.
Coleraine First XI travelled to Ulster Elks Seconds to battle for the semi-final place in the plate stages and both teams started well with some early chances.
The visitors got an early short corner which was quickly turned over by Elks and with fast pace, Elks then got the first goal to make it 1-0.
Kelly Watt showed great skill down the right side for Coleraine, getting the ball in for Zoe Purdy and Kitty Dickson who showed some excellent passes in the attacking circles, but were denied by the goalie.
Coleraine defence pushed up hard to help attack with some great play by Alice McGill working the goalie again. Elks again played a long ball in to beat the Coleraine defence ending the first half 2-0.
In the second half Coleraine came back hard with determination to get back into the game. One great ball from Alice McGill beat the Elks defenders which created a one-on-one with Zoe Purdy putting the ball round the goalie to make it 2-1.
Coleraine came back with a 100 per cent effort which seen the whole team work together and working the ball round, which ended in Zoe Purdy being rewarded with another goal. Drawing level at 2-2.
Elks came back hard and tested the Coleraine defenace to again take the lead and make it 3-2.
