Kelly’s Eye helps Carrick Rangers hit the jackpot thumbnailCarrick's Lee Chapman and Coleraine's Jamie McGonigle battle for possession during Saturday's Danske Premiership clash in Carrickfergus.

A BRACE of goals from Daniel Kelly on just his second start under new boss Aaron Callaghan condemned Coleraine to a rare defeat and helped Carrick Rangers climb out of the bottom two in the Danske Bank Premiership table on Saturday. Kelly headed in his first midway through the opening half before adding his second early in the second period to continue Carrick's recent renaissance.
It was no more than the home side deserved on an afternoon when they looked the hungrier team against a subdued and strangely out of sorts Coleraine.
With veteran Chris Morrow showing glimpses of the player he once was in the heart of the Crusaders team, the home side steadily grew in confidence once they had opened the scoring.
A Steven McCullough corner was drilled into the Coleraine penalty area where Kelly escaped the attentions of his marker long enough to head powerfully back from where the corner had come into the far corner of the net.
It was just the fillip the hosts needed as they sought to maintain recent momentum.
