McGonigle goal denies Glentoran thumbnailColeraine goalscorer Jamie McGonigle is congratulated by Jordan Allan after scoring the only goal of the game in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Glentoran.

A FINE strike from Dungiven's Jamie McGonigle early in the second half earned Coleraine a deserved three points against Glentoran at the Oval on Saturday. The game might have finished 1-0 to the visitors but it was an unfair reflection on the dominance they enjoyed throughout the 90 minutes.
Indeed, had it not been for the brilliance of Glens' keeper Elliott Morris, then the hosts could have been staring at a heavy defeat, similar to the 6-0 drubbing at the same venue a number of years ago.
The first half was largely non eventful, both teams enjoying possession of the ball, but creating little by way of chances.
Jordan Allan had the first meaningful effort but Morris, not for the last time, was equal to the task. At the other end, Chris Johns was alert to deny former Coleraine striker Curtis Allen.
But it was Morris who was to be the busier of the two keepers as half-time approached.
First, he somehow clawed Adam Mullan's looping header away from just below the crossbar, before he showed lightning reflexes to deflect a Mullan volley from close range over the crossbar following a Neil McCafferty corner-kick.
