COLERAINE Seconds took centre stage at Sandel Lodge on Saturday and the good sized crowd was treated to an entertaining league game between the hosts and Dromore Seconds, with the home side winning 27-14.
Coleraine began brightly, playing at a high tempo with half backs Greg Jordan and Rory Strang using possession cleverly to probe for weaknesses in the opposition defence, but the good work was undone by a series of misdemeanours at the breakdown.
During the first 15 minutes the Bannsiders were penalised on five occasions at the tackle area and the resilient visitors were able to relieve the pressure.
It was Strang who forced the breakthrough after 17 minutes, making a decisive break just inside the Dromore half and running strongly before linking with the supporting Stevie Callaghan who raced over for a fine score. Strang added the extras with a difficult conversion to make it 7-0.
