COLERAINE manager Oran Kearney admits he would love nothing better than to see the current squad of players win Saturday's IRN-BRU League Cup Final. Kearney, who has guided the team to this weekend's decider against Crusaders in his first full season in charge, says they are an 'honest bunch' who deserve success.
“I'm really pleased for the players that we won against Glenavon on Saturday - the last thing you would have wanted would have been a poor performance, never mind a poor result, on the eve of a cup final," he said.
“It was nice to get that one out of the way and now we can fully concentrate on Saturday.
“Thankfully, we've got a good bunch this year and it's been a real team effort with everyone pulling in the same direction. The players dug it out second half against Glenavon and it's all credit to them, I sincerely hope they keep going.
“They deserve it, they're a great bunch, a real good honest bunch, and I would love nothing better than to see them win a trophy."
Most of the physical preparation has been done, with the manager admitting that this week will be more about mental preparation than anything. "This week we'll taper off more than anything," he continued.
“It's more more mental than anything this week: the physical work has been done and it's more mentally getting ready for it now.
“It's a cup final but we'll concentrate on us. We won't be disrespectful - we've had them watched - but I believe it's about what we do this Saturday that will determine the outcome."
