Fire ignites residents' fears thumbnail

LOCAL residents and business owners in Coleraine town centre have fallen victim to further anti-social behaviour in the area following a recent arson attack.
On Monday, August 27 a fire in the vicinity of Anderson's Park caused visible damage to an area at the rear of Church Street when it is believed a bin located in a delivery bay behind Boots in Coleraine was set alight.
Although the fire was dealt with accordingly, the ordeal could have had further complications if the fire had spread inside the Boots store or other adjoining businesses.
In recent months there are a number of  well documented instances of anti-social behaviour in the area with a number of bins in the town centre being targetted by arsonists.
Youths are said to be the culprits and this factor  has left one local resident feeling fearful: "It's not just the scariness of the behaviour but things like this will put up our rates and it's terrifying to live in the area.
“There's a place that youths hang out in that was used to store gas tanks when Brooks was going and there has been damage there as well, the fire brigade must be fed up coming out to the same thing.
