A FORMER senior police officer claims cuts to the policing budget brought about by the continuing lack of government at Stormont convinced him to pledge support for the 'We Deserve Better' campaign.
The protest group, which is pressing for MLAs to get back to work, is holding a number of meetings across Northern Ireland this evening (Tuesday) - including one at East Strand car park in Portrush.
And Alan Barton says the protest is a chance for ordinary people to show their frustration at the continuing impasse which will see Northern Ireland surpass Belgium as the jurisdiction for the longest period of time without a functioning executive.
“As far as I'm concerned  we've become a total laughing stock," says Alan.
