THE new Sinn Fein Mayor paid her respects to victims of the IRA on Sunday, flanked by the Queen's representative in County Londonderry and the DUP's Gregory Campbell.
Brenda Chivers was among hundreds who came to a ceremony marking the 45th anniversary of the 1973 Railway Road bomb in Coleraine which killed six and injured dozens more.
Ahead of Sunday's event Mr Campbell had said the opportunity to stand with innocent victims of terror presented the mayor with "an early and very real test of credibility."
Afterwards she told the Chronicle: "It was a very dignified service and I was glad to be able to pay my respects."
