Resort parking charges ratified thumbnail

A BID  to overturn the introduction of seasonal parking charges at North Coast resorts and beaches has failed.
From Easter until September motorists will pay 40p per hour or 2 per day at car parks in Portrush, Portstewart, Portballintrae, Ballintoy and Ballycastle.
The decision to impose charges was taken by the council's Environmental Services Committee last month.
However, an attempt was made to reverse the move when the full council gathered  for it's monthly meeting on Tuesday.
After a fractious two-hour debate, only minor exemptions were achieved in Portballintrae.
