Northern Regional College footballers in All Ireland title bid

Thursday, 1 March 2018

NORTHERN Regional College's footballers are just one game away from being crowned All Ireland champions for the first time.
Northern Regional College take on Carlow IT in the final of the Colleges and Universities All Ireland League at FAI headquarters in Dublin this Thursday evening (6pm).
The southerners are unbeaten in this year's competition but Northern Regional College's Head of Sport, Neil Beddow, is quietly optimistic about his side's chances.
“Carlow are a good side," Beddow admitted to Chronicle Sport.
“They haven't been beaten in this year's competition, so I would say we'll go into the game as underdogs.
“Having said that we enjoyed a good win in the semi-final and will have a full squad to choose from.
“The players are looking forward to it and it's a massive achievement to reach the final in their first year," he added.
The Northern Regional College squad features a number of players with Irish League experience and boasts the tournament's leading goalscorer in the shape of nine-goal Stewart Nixon of Ballyclare Comrades.
“Stewart has done well for us, but then so has the whole squad," continued Beddow.
