Beach parking charges backed

Thursday, 15 February 2018

CAUSEWAY Coast and Glens Borough Council is to introduce car parking charges at North Coast beaches.
From Easter weekend until the end of September motorists will pay 40p per hour or 2 per day at East and West Strands, Portrush and Portballintrae.
The tariffs will also be introduced at Ballintoy Harbour, Ballycastle Marina as well as Lansdowne Crescent and Dunluce Avenue in Portrush.
The decision to impose charges was taken by the Council's Environmental Services Committee last Tuesday - although the full council is required to rubber stamp the move later this month.
Members were told a pay and display system would raise almost 400,000 annually.
The plan is one of a number recommendations contained in the council's newly adopted Parking Strategy for the borough.
