FORMER Man Utd and NI international goalkeeper Harry Gregg admits that Tuesday's Munich memorial service at Old Trafford 'won't be easy' as he returns to the club for the first time in over 30 years.
The 85-year-old is one of just two surviving members of the 'Busby Babes' team which was decimated in the Munich Air Disaster on February 6 1958, the other being Sir Bobby Charlton.
The pair will be special guests of Manchester United as the club marks the 60th anniversary of an incident which claimed the lives of eight members of Sir Matt Busby's team along with a number of club staff members, journalists and airline crew.
Speaking ahead of his return to Manchester, the Coleraine man admitted to having 'mixed emotions.'
“I want to go but at the same time I don't want to go," he told the Harry Gregg Foundation, the charity set up in his name and which encourages young people to get involved in sport.
“I hope people can understand that. It will be an emotional, difficult day for me.
“But I will be there because I feel I should be there. I should be there on behalf of the people I was lucky enough to play with and who sadly and tragically never walked away from that plane," he added.
Gregg, who played over 200 times for the Red Devils, can recall every detail of what happened on that fateful February day on the runway at Munich-Riem Airport and admits that he has suffered from 'survivor's guilt' in the intervening years.
