A MULTI-MILLION pound expansion at Kerry Group's Coleraine cheese factory has created 22 new jobs.
The investment has enabled production of new line of 'cheese bites' developed on the Millburn Road site.
The additional jobs bring the factory's total workforce up to 260.
It's core business remains cheese slices but, said plant manager Stephen McCambridge, the new product had been identified as an area of strategic growth.
“We started production at the end of the summer but we have only just reached full capacity," he added.
“We have built an entirely new manufacturing area and installed a new production line with new equipment - we have in effect added a new plant."
Mr McCambridge said the company's ambitions for Coleraine were a reflection of the staff's dedication.
“The plant has always had a great relationship with Coleraine and we are delighted that this expansion is contributing to the economy and creating jobs," he added.
Kerry's Coleraine factory now contains four separate plants. One produces a 'yoghurt on a stick' product aimed at children, while two more are devoted to cheese slices.
