65m hotel plans revealed thumbnail

THE developers behind the 65m hotel overlooking Royal Portrush golf links have unveiled their designs.
The Dunluce Resort and Spa, which includes a 115 bedroom hotel and 62 guest apartments, is being hailed as the biggest private sector tourism project in Northern Ireland.
Earlier this month the Chronicle reported that plans have now been lodged with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
Designs published online this week show the main hotel block, with two wings built in a V-shape to maximise views over Portrush, the Skerries and beyond.
The main building also contains 14 guest apartments on its top floor and a further 48 apartments contained in separate buildings along with three guest villas. These would be sold off as holiday homes, according to documents accompanying the application.
The application goes on to provide details of bars, restaurants, a pool, conference centre, spa, a ballroom, terraces and shops.
The developers are hoping to capitalise on global exposure from the Open championship in 2019 and fill a perceived gap in the luxury market.
