Sick of waiting at the hospital! thumbnailColeraine’s Causeway Hospital. CC50-49s

THIRTY patients waited more than 12 hours in Coleraine's Causeway Hospital for treatment or admission in September, new figures have shown.
The figure is five times the number recorded in September 2016 and three times the July 2017 figure. In August no patient had to wait more than 12 hours in the hospital's emergency department.
Latest Emergency Care Waiting Time Statistics show that more than a third of patients (34.1 per cent) had to wait longer than four hours for treatment or admission to the Causeway in September.
A total of 3,609 patients attended the hospital's A & E department during that month with 65.9 per cent being treated or admitted within four hours, compared to 62.8 per cent in September 2016.
The government's target is that 95 per cent of patients should be seen within four hours.
Meanwhile BBC data shows that Northern Ireland has seen the biggest rise in people coming to A&E units, just 75 per cent of patients were seen in four hours in 2016-17.
