FORMER fans' favourite Stephen Dooley is being linked with a sensational return to Coleraine in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old - who earlier this year helped Cork City win the League of Ireland Premier Division - made his Irish League debut for the Showgrounds club as a teenager almost ten years ago.
He spent several years on a soccer scholarship in the United States before joining Derry City in 2014 and Cork two years later. The attacking midfielder spent a short time on loan with his hometown club three years ago.
Meanwhile, it's believed the Bannsiders are also on the verge of bringing in a striker as they seek to maintain their advantage in the Danske Bank Premiership title race.
Oran Kearney's men are currently six points clear of nearest challengers Crusaders and entertain Dungannon Swifts at Ballycastle Road this Saturday.
“Every single team in this league will bring you a problem," admitted Oran this week.
“Carrick did and Dungannon will bring us a problem in the same way as we hope to bring them a problem.
“We've said it before - I've yet to see a team lie down and say, 'there you go, there's the three points and roll over'.
