TWO golfers at opposite ends of their careers were the big winners at Friday evening's Causeway Coast and Glens Sports Awards gala dinner in Coleraine's Lodge Hotel.
Eight-year-old Ollie McEvoy was a popular winner of the Chairman's Award while 49-year-old Darren Clarke became the second inductee into the Hall of Fame after Olympic rower Alan Campbell last year.
In his acceptance speech, former Open winner Clarke paid tribute to the achievements of the talented Ballycastle schoolboy who swept all before him.
“I just want to add my congratulations to you on the way you have represented yourself, Ballycastle and all of us in an extraordinary year," said the ex Ryder Cup captain.
“Many congratulations on your award - you certainly had a better year than I had - and I'm looking forward to seeing you out on tour!"
Ollie, a multiple winner in 2017, showed remarkable maturity in his acceptance speech, thanking everyone who had voted for him before revealing his sporting ambition.
