HE may be only eight years of age but it is already abundantly clear that Ballycastle golfing prodigy Ollie McEvoy has a very bright future ahead of him in his chosen sport.
A multiple winner at home and abroad in 2017, Ollie capped a memorable year by being acclaimed as a very popular winner of the Chairmen's Awards at Friday night's Causeway Coast and Glens Sports Awards dinner.
Bounding on to the stage to accept his award, Ollie showed remarkable maturity in an interview with event compere Sarah Travers, thanking all those who had helped him during a season in which he won the Ulster, Connacht and Munster Under-8 titles and collected the Gary Player Award for winning the order of merit.
He also showed a disarming honesty when asked if he could chip golf balls into a washing machine, as another unique Irish golfing talent Rory McIlroy once famously did.
