Patients will die campaigner

Thursday, 5 October 2017

A HOSPITAL campaigner claimed that "patients will die" as a consequence of the proposed 13m savings plan which will see more pressure on staff.
The shocking comments from retired doctor Owen Finnegan, came at a public consultation meeting hosted by The Northern Health and Social Care Trust at the Sandel Centre in Coleraine on Wednesday, September 27.
The meeting was called after the Northern Trust was asked by the Department of Health to develop proposed plans to deliver their share of the 70m of savings in 2017/18.
The Trust's Chief Executive, Dr Tony Stevens opened the consultation by explaining that making savings would always have some impact on the front line services.
He highlighted that the proposals in the consultation document would have no direct impact on Causeway Hospital but it would have some in indirect consequences.
