POLICE are warning daredevil youngsters that they are risking serious injury by scaling Coleraine town centre buildings and running across rooftops.
And traders are being urged to secure their bins to ensure that they can't be used by youngsters engaged in a potentially dangerous extreme sport, known as 'free running' or 'parkour'.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Donna Bowden said: "Police in Coleraine are aware of reports of young people accessing rooftops of properties in the town centre.
“This type of activity may be viewed by the young people involved as a bit of harmless fun; it is not. It is reckless and dangerous, and can result in serious injury."
She added: "It can have serious consequences and those who take part in any such activity are exposing themselves to the possibility of action by a landowner against trespass on their land or property.
“I would appeal to parents and guardians to take responsibility regarding the whereabouts of their children and the company they keep.
