A COLERAINE businessman, whose son and daughter-in-law were in Las Vegas during the worst mass shooting in US history, has spoken of his relief at hearing they were safe and sound.
John Gillan, proprietor of Guy&Girl hairdressers in the town, spoke yesterday (Monday) of his relief after hearing from his son Gerald that they were not caught up in the shooting which has left almost 60 dead and over 500 people injured.
Speaking to the Chronicle, John said that he and his wife had been in "panic stations" when they saw the news yesterday morning.
The Ballymoney man said: "We are looking after their two kids while Gerald and Sarah were away; this morning my wife was up first and saw the news. It was 'panic stations' until we knew they were safe.
“Luckily I was able to contact Gerald quite quickly by Whats App and by that stage they were already back in their hotel.
