HI-TECH companies like to be near data centres. Reach into cyberspace - to download music, book a flight or transfer cash - and you are probably connecting to servers in a windowless building on an industrial estate.
But tech firms also like universities, with research facilities and steady streams of bright young potential employees.
Add in an enterprise zone, with tax breaks and reduced red tape, and you almost have the perfect site. But what if the data centre, university and enterprise zone had access to the fastest connectivity point between the UK and North America?
Well, good fortune and persistence have given Coleraine just such a site. And while It's been a long time coming, this week saw the council officially launch the project that can potentially transform Coleraine into a digital hub.
The 2.7million council-funded Atlantic Link Campus has been hailed as a "significant economic development opportunity" for the North Coast.
