COLERAINE may be the first place in Northern Ireland to benefit from the DUP's new found influence at Westminster.
As part of the deal to shore up Theresa May's minority government, the party has secured the PM's personal backing for the town's Enterprise Zone which was officially launched this week.
After failing to win an overall majority in the general election, the Tories are relying on the DUP's 10 MPs to guarantee passage of legislation.
It's now emerged that during negotiations Gregory Campbell persuaded the PM to write a letter of support for the Enterprise Zone development.
The Enterprise Zone is being built to capitalise on Project Kelvin's transatlantic cable which comes ashore in Portrush. The council believes it provides a unique opportunity to attract high tech business.
Prospective tenants will have the benefit of Northern Ireland's first carrier-neutral data centre plus incentives to relocate, including tax breaks and reduced red tape.
In the PM's letter of support, seen by the Chronicle, Mrs May says she was "delighted" to learn of the project's official launch.
