Stormont plea over hotel plan

NORTH Antrim MLA Jim Allister has called for the planning decision on a 15m hotel on the North Coast to be removed from council control because officers had prior discussions with the developers.
Mr Allister has already lodged private objections to the Portstewart scheme based on its potential impact on his nearby holiday home.

In his letter Mr Allister tells the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Infrastructure he has evidence of "considerable nexus" between the council and the applicant ahead of the submission.
“I write to suggest that the department should give consideration to calling in this application for a departmental decision because of the conflicted position of the Causeway Coast and Glens Council which is due to decide on this matter," he writes.
