Hotel’s relaunch is a ‘positive development’ thumbnailThe Me & Mrs Jones Hotel, Portstewart due to reopen soon.

A BOUTIQUE hotel in Portstewart which opened in 2012 only to close after just a few months is to relaunch in time for the summer holidays.
This week, Me & Mrs Jones' new proprietor, Mary McCloy confirmed to the Chronicle that the premises would re-open ahead of July's Irish Open.
With the vision of setting a new standard of accommodation for the north coast, the hotel was the base for a number of competitors in 2012, including tournament winner Jamie Donaldson.
The property, developed by Norman Menary and furnished in opulent burlesque style, included a wine bar and restaurant.
It was proving popular with locals and holiday makers alike when, to the surprise of many regulars, it closed in January 2013.
Causeway Coast and Glens councillor Norman Hillis described he hotel's relaunch as 'a really positive development.'
“I think, as one of the top tourist resorts in Northern Ireland, it's utter madness that there isn't more hotel accommodation in the town," he said.
“With so many events coming in the near future, including the Irish Open in Portstewart and the Open Championship in Portrush in 2019, to have it open again will give the area a real boost."
