A GRATEFUL Portstewart mum has pledged her support to a cancer support charity which has announced major expansion plans.
B&B owner Irene Moore is among hundreds of people from across the North Coast who have used the Charis Cancer Centre set up to support people affected by cancer as well as bereaved families.
The charity, which is celebrating its seventh anniversary, is based in an idyllic setting overlooking Lough Fea in the Sperrin mountains, between Cookstown and Draperstown.
Due to soaring demand for its free services, a planning application has been submitted for an extension which will increase the centre's size by around 50 per cent. Backing the charity and its expansion plans, mum-of-four Irene said: "When you are coping with cancer in your family it brings a range of challenges.
