Cup final tickets on sale at ground
Thursday, 13 April 2017
BANNSIDERS' boss Oran Kearney claims Saturday's league meeting with Glenavon is bigger than the impending Tennent's Irish Cup final - in financial terms at least.
Victory over Gary Hamilton's side would go a long way to securing a third place league finish, bringing with it a place in the Europa League and a cash windfall.
Coleraine, of course, dumped the Lurgan Blues out of the cup at the start of the month and will be looking to complete a quick-fire double this weekend.
“Saturday's game is bigger than the cup final in terms of money," said Oran, who has just been named the NI Football Writers' Manager of the Month for March.
“But I want both and I've told the boys to be selfish.
“There's no talk of the cup final in that changing room and the focus is very much on Glenavon this Saturday.
“Until such time as third place is secured mathematically there'll be no talk of the cup final," he added.
Maybe not for the players and management but that's certainly not the case for supporters who are busy making plans for the May 6 decider.
And the good news is that club officials have successfully negotiated with the IFA to sell cup final tickets at the Showgrounds this Saturday.
There had been speculation that Ticketmaster would be the only outlet but that fear has proved unfounded and a certain number will be on sale to supporters attending the Glenavon game.
