COLERAINE extended their incredible unbeaten run to 16 games at the weekend and in the process strengthened their claims for European football next season.
A brace of second half goals from Darren McAuley condemned Cliftonville to a first defeat against the Bannsiders in four meetings this season, a loss which sees the hosts open a five point gap on their nearest rivals.
With just four league games remaining there is a growing belief that Coleraine may be back playing European football for the first time in almost a decade.
However, given that those games are against Glenavon, Crusaders, Linfield and Ballymena Utd respectively Oran Kearney and his players will be taking nothing for granted.
“Today gives us a bit of breathing space but we won't rest until it is mathematically certain," said a relieved Coleraine manager after the game.
