‘Urgent need’ for leisure complex - Clarke thumbnailColeraine Leisure Centre.

A NEW Coleraine leisure complex could pave the way for a much-needed town centre retail park, according to a local councillor.
DUP Councillor Trevor Clarke described the current leisure centre in Railway Road as "tired" and "no longer fit for purpose."
He said: "There is little doubt Coleraine is in urgent need of a new leisure centre. Despite the best efforts of staff there, the existing building is unattractive and inefficient.
“It is uncompetitive when compared with the Foyle Arena in Londonderry or the Olympia Centre in Belfast.
“I hope Council will recognise the need to advance a business case in coming months for a new flagship leisure and wellbeing facility in the Borough's main town.
“If this happens we will have a unique opportunity to, in tandem, address another key issue that is fundamental to the town's future - it's retail offering."
