Talk of the town!

Thursday, 16 February 2017

A POSITIVE new blueprint has been drawn-up by a local independent trader in an effort to breathe new life into Coleraine town centre.
Samuel Moore, owner of S&T Moore menswear on Railway Road, revealed his ideas to the Chronicle while thanking the paper for helping to highlight issues surrounding trade in the town.
The clothing retailer, who has almost 40 years industry experience, had previously spoke out about trade in the town centre in the lead up to Christmas, has now created some ideas which he believes will be a platform to transform the town.
Mr Moore said: "It has been almost four weeks since the Coleraine Chronicle published the article on the performance of Coleraine town centre over the Christmas period.
“The feedback I have received has been overwhelmingly supportive both in comments made by the public personally and on our Facebook page. I also had Councillors and the Chief Executive of the Council come into the shop to speak to me about the issues raised in the article. I thank them for taking the time to listen to my concerns.
“I would also like to thank the Coleraine Chronicle for highlighting these matters about the town centre."
The vast public response has caused Mr Moore to give some considerable thought to the issues raised and what possible solutions there are.
He added: "We would all have to acknowledge that shopping habits have changed considerably over the last number of years. So in 2017, what now are the factors involved when potential consumers want to make a purchase? I am not highlighting these issues to promote my business, I am doing this for the good of the town and other businesses too."
