Caring caretaker 'cheques-in' for charities! thumbnailDavy Boyle presents a cheque for 2,000 to Grace Community Events Manager Chest, Heart and Stroke. Included are Isobel Huston, treasurer, Chief Inspector Ian Magee, Hanna Reid and Lorna Wilmont, Chairperson.

MANY individuals and organisations have benefited from the generosity of Coleraine's 'Caring Caretaker,' Davy Boyle, over the years.
The latest beneficiaries gathered in the Lodge Hotel last Monday evening to share in the proceeds of Davy's annual sit-out in Coleraine, which last year amounted to almost 30,000 and an additional 9,000 garnered throughout the year.
Representatives of three cancer charities each accepted a cheque for 11,000 while three other good causes each received 2,000.
Altogether, Davy, a former Coleraine town hall caretaker, has raised an incredible 524,571 over the years, earning him an MBE from Her Majesty the Queen a number of years ago and the respect of all who know him.
“I'm just delighted to be able to help the charities but I can't do it on my own," admitted a modest Davy.
“There are a lot of people I have to thank including Rev Robert McMullan, the staff and management from Moores of Coleraine, Colin Bond from Bond's Jewellers and members of the local media who help to publicise my fundraising efforts.
"I also want to thank the PSNI for all their help and support, especially Chief Inspector Ian Magee and Constable Darren Pollock, everyone who brought me food and drink during my sit-out, particularly Hannah Reid, and, of course, anyone who supported me in any away.
