"COWARDLY" attackers who beat up a Coleraine pensioner on his own doorstep were finally brought to justice yesterday (Monday, January 16).
North Antrim Magistrates, sitting in Coleraine, heard how Michael McMullan and Niall Butler had set upon the 66-year-old as he left his Ballycastle Road home at 11.30 pm to walk his dog.
Their defenceless victim, who fell over a wall during a scuffle, was punched and kicked in the face. He suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs, cuts and bruises.
Police called following the terrifying attack, which was witnessed by the victim's wife, found him struggling for breath and covered in blood.
Violence flared on October 7, 2015, after McMullan, 23, from Erinvale Park, Armoy and Butler, 29, from Rockend, Corkey, Ballymena, were thrown out of a party next door to the couple's home.
