Record calls for help thumbnail‘A lot of people are suffering and desperate’ - Angela Welch

A RECORD number of calls for help were received by Citizens Advice Causeway during the festive and New Year holiday period.
The Coleraine-based charity's Manager Angela Welch told The Chronicle: "When our offices re-opened on Wednesday (January 4) we were inundated with enquiries; the amount of emails was astonishing. After Bank Holidays we are always busy but we've had more calls for help this year, than ever before.
“We are the touchstone of what's happening in the town and know that there are a lot of people who are suffering and desperate for help. Over the years our workload has gradually increased and we now deal with around 2,000 enquiries every month.
“Christmas is traditionally a time when already strained relationships break down and couples, who are not used to spending so much time together, discuss separating.
