A CARING Aghadowey schoolboy has had his hair shaved off for a cause close to his heart.
Harry Doherty, 11, decided to raise funds for Cancer Focus NI while his aunt Fiona Walker was undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
His proud mum Valerie told The Chronicle: "This was all Harry's idea; after he made up his own sponsorship forms family and friends rallied behind him and helped him raise £1,400.
“Money is still coming in which we are all astounded by. People have been so generous.
“Harry is very close to his aunt Fiona and one day he returned from school to announce that he was going to get his hair shaved off to raise money for cancer. It just took off from there.
“His classmates at Macosquin Primary School were all behind him. Harry plays for Coleraine Academy as a centre-forward and the football club also sponsored him."

Harry's head was shaved on Thursday, December 15, at his home by Wendy Doherty from Coleraine's 'Untangled' hair salon, while his aunt Fiona looked on.
