Tragedy turns to hope thumbnail

TRAGEDY has turned to hope for a Coleraine mother this Christmas following the birth of her "miracle baby."
Hairdresser Laura Connor was devastated when her brother Christopher was found dead at a disused Portstewart hotel following a night-out in the seaside town in December 2011.
Christopher, 20, had suffered a fatal head injury after entering the site of the former Montague Arms and lay undiscovered for three days while his distraught family searched for him.
A post-mortem examination showed that the young barman had died as a result of bruising and fluid on the brain, associated with a fractured skull.
Christopher's death, in the run-up to Christmas, shocked the community and many people laid wreaths at the scene of the tragedy.
Five years later Laura, 28, is cherishing every moment spent with her baby daughter. Despite a difficult pregnancy and being told there was a high risk of miscarriage, she gave birth to beautiful little Olivia Hope in September.
Olivia Hope, who has Down Syndrome and a serious heart condition, is set to undergo open heart surgery in the New Year.
But doting mum Laura is determined that she will brighten up a festive period that will be laced with poignant memories.
