Davy edges close to half million milestone thumbnailColeraine’s Caring Caretaker, David Boyle is presented with a cheque from Coleraine FC, by James Boyce and Ivan Kyle in Coleraine on Thursday morning.

COLERAINE'S 'Caring Caretaker' is within touching distance of reaching his target of raising £500,000 for local charities.
Former Coleraine Town Hall caretaker Davy Boyle hopes to realise his long-held dream in the run-up to Christmas.
He also expects to make it £30,000 for the year with the ongoing support of local people and visitors to the area.
“I am eternally grateful to the people of Coleraine and everyone else who continues to support me," said Davy, whose annual sit-out in the Diamond is as much part of Christmas as mistletoe and wine.
“People have been very generous again this year and I am so close to reaching my target.
“Hopefully, with a big push this week we can hit the target which would be great news for this year's charities," he added.
Among those backing Davy are officials of Coleraine Football Club who set aside the disappointment of defeat in the semi-finals of the League Cup to show their support for a fellow 'Bannsider.'
“It was a bad result against Ballymena but hopefully the boys will make up for it on Boxing Day," added Davy, who is enjoying better fortunes with his other favourite team, Liverpool.
By that stage, the popular grandfather will have completed his annual sit-out to the benefit of his chosen charities - to 'writ large' his name in the annals of Coleraine!
