THE heartbroken daughter of a Coleraine man who was found dead in his home last week has described him as her "hero."
The Harpurs Hill community has been left in shock following the sudden death of Colin Doherty, who was found dead in his home in Silverthorn Avenue, last Tuesday (December 13).
Mr Doherty's devastated daughter Colleen said on social media that she was "heartbroken forever," and that her daddy was her "hero who protected me for years..... and loved me so much."
Police received the report of the death of the 56-year-old man, last Tuesday (December 13).
The PSNI confirmed a 25 year old man was arrested in the Coleraine area just after 5.30pm that evening, in connection with the death.
Police initially treated the death as suspicious, but later confirmed they no longer were treating the sudden death as suspicious.
PSNI confirmed: "Following a post mortem examination, the sudden death of a man in Silverthorn Avenue, Coleraine, on Tuesday 13 December is no longer being treated as suspicious."
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey added: "A 25 year old man remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries in relation to an earlier incident."
Some residents remained tight lipped on Tuesday afternoon as the area was sealed off and police moved in. Some of Mr Doherty's shocked neighbours have described him as "a nice wee man."
Mr Doherty's daughter Colleen added on Facebook: "Anyone who knew my daddy knew how much he was a good man he liked a drink but he was harmless he would of gave you the shirt off his back to make you warmer.
“My daddy was my hero he protected me for years and told me non stop how much he loved me... the last words he said before this nightmare began was that he loved me up the sky past God, many of my friends who knew him knew this was one of his regular one liners.
